We are in the city of Mattie, more precisely in the Menolzio hamlet, just 40 minutes from the ski resorts of Bardonecchia and Salice d'Ulzio. We are not talking about a common property like many others. What we offer today is the possibility to buy a true rareness ... a medieval tower. Menolzio Tower is also called the house of Mattie, and it's a building of medieval origin, dating back to the second half of the 13th century, located in the Valley of Susa near the hamlet of Menolzio. The structure is about 500 square meters, to which are added the about 60 square meters of the small adjacent building. The Tower has a square base of 10 meters per 10 meters which, inside, due to the mighty walls, appears to be 9 meters per 9 meters and it's more than 15 meters high. In addition to the fenced garden right in front of the Tower, the property has about one hectare of land. On the ground floor there is what was the ancient barn, set up, according to the classic Piedmontese tradition, with a central pillar and four vault, while on the first floor there is the large living room, lit by two Gothic windows facing south. The top floor, of double height, has an exit onto the walkway around the walls and an ancient window that gives a superb view of the Rocciamelone and the whole valley. The tower, which has remained substantially intact over the centuries, is surrounded by ancient walls partly merlate and is one of the few examples of a fortified residence of the Middle Ages. A beautiful valley, which sees the lawns of an intense greenery alternate with very high but gentle mountains: it is the Valle di Susa, in Piedmont, connected through a fast and modern motorway with Turin and France, both less than an hour away. The most famous ski resorts (Sestriere, Sauze d'Oulx and Bardonecchia) are within a radius of about 40 kilometers. The nearest city, Susa, is just 5 kilometers away.
